Can I apply for a scholarship if I have already attended FileMaker Devcon or Claris Engage?
Absolutely. Even if you were a previous scholarship recipient, you are welcome to apply!
How many times can I apply for each scholarship?
One application per scholarship per year
Who can apply for a scholarship?
All women in Claris/Database/IT fields including those who support/service those fields (meaning, not just developers!). We are opening it up beyond the Claris Community there needs to be the intent that they want to get involved and plugged into and work and be in the greater Claris Community.
Can I use the scholarship for multiple offerings? Say, certification exam and training course?
Yes, but you must use all your scholarship by December 31st, 2022 to pay for the courses, certification exams, events, etc (they could still be in early 2023).
Could I use the Scholarship money to buy a computer or software?
No
Are there recommendations for events or courses that qualify for the Scholarship?
- Pause on Error
- Productive Computing University
- Online courses/seminars/events to further skill sets in technology, certifications for various technologies, possibly courses/seminars to enhance an employee’s success~ i.e time management, dealing with difficult customers.
- Not acceptable: courses outside of technology and/or employee development.
Can this scholarship be used for regular and untraditional courses?
Yes. it could be used for virtual synchronous or asynchronous courses
Does the course/seminar/event need to be based in the United States?
Yes. The scholarship winner doesn’t need to be in the US, but the scholarship will need to be paid to a US institution.
How will the scholarship be paid?
Payment will be issued by WITfm and made payable directly to the course/college/ university/certification institution or event indicated by the scholarship recipient in the application.
How the applications will be evaluated and how the recipient(s) will be selected?
The Scholarship Committee reviews the applications and “grades” the essays individually. In an effort to support Claris, Inc.’s “Pillars of Excellence,” reviewers make an effort to try to identify which applicants show high potential for Claris Advocacy. The Scholarship Committee discusses their findings and decides on the top applicant as well as four (alternates) candidates.
Will the recipient receive a year’s membership to WITfm?
Yes, the recipient will get free access to WITfm for one year.
